Strategic Foundations

The plan was created in response to rapid development, unplanned housing, environmental degradation, Vision 2030, devolution, and the Kiambu County Integrated Development Plan.

Strategic Foundations Priorities

RKRA's strategic foundations are based on the need to protect the Redhill/Kentmere area from unplanned growth, environmental degradation, low-cost uncontrolled housing, and development pressures from nearby urban areas including Nairobi and Limuru.

  1. 1

    Promote planned and controlled development

Support development that protects the character, environment, and long-term value of the Redhill/Kentmere area.

  2. 2

    Safeguard the area's environmental assets

Preserve the beauty of the environment, clean air, rivers, springs, forests, green spaces, vegetation cover, and natural landscapes.

  3. 3

Maintain a quiet, low-density residential character

Protect Redhill/Kentmere as a serene residential area, with low-density dwellings and a balance between private, public, agricultural, and environmental interests.

  4. 4

Support public participation in planning and resource allocation

Ensure that residents are represented in decisions affecting planning, development, public resources, and county-level priorities.

  5. 5

Engage with County and National Government planning frameworks

Participate in the Kiambu County Integrated Development Plan process and align community priorities with relevant public planning frameworks.

  6. 6

    Balance economic growth with conservation

Encourage development that brings vibrancy and growth while preserving the values, environment, and distinctive character of the area.

  7. 7

    Position Redhill/Kentmere as a high-value planned community

Promote the area as a unique location combining agriculture, horticulture, residential living, water resources, scenic beauty, and proximity to Nairobi and tourist destinations.
