Priorities

Purpose: Protect and enhance the unique character of the Redhill/Kentmere area as a highland community with strong environmental, agricultural, residential, and economic value.

   Preserve the natural beauty and highland environment

   Redhill/Kentmere should retain its scenic highland character, green spaces, forest cover, clean air, rivers, springs, dams, and natural landscapes.

   Maintain controlled and planned development

   Development should be orderly, low-density, and aligned with the area's long-term spatial and zoning priorities.

   Protect residential character and quality of life

   The area should remain a quiet, safe, secure, family-friendly residential environment with easy access to Nairobi, Limuru, and key services.

   Balance residential, agricultural, commercial, and environmental interests

   Commercial and residential development should be integrated into the environment without undermining agriculture, public space, or community wellbeing.

   Support modern agriculture and agribusiness

   The area's agricultural base, including tea, coffee, dairy, horticulture, livestock, and related value-addition opportunities, should be strengthened through innovation, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing.

   Protect water, land, forests, and public spaces

   RKRA priorities include conservation, preservation of public spaces, beautification of roads and avenues, protection of dams and rivers, and responsible use of natural resources.

   Improve infrastructure and services

   Priorities include better roads, stable electricity supply, improved security, access roads, water, communication, and collaboration with public service providers.

   Promote the area as a distinctive and high-value community

   Redhill/Kentmere is positioned as a unique area combining agriculture, horticulture, housing, water resources, scenic beauty, proximity to Nairobi, and proximity to tourist attractions.
